Counsellor

I have trained and worked with Cruse Bereavement Care and LifeLine.

My counselling experience and work with couples and parents has been informed by research. I am interested in the quantity and quality of information that exists regarding the effects of trauma in the area of mental health, and have used this model of care with clients effectively working with diverse traumatic experiences.

I believe that women and men who receive help post birth for these types of symptoms will benefit greatly. I have had four children, and can understand how post birth experiences can affect people as individuals and couples.

Past experiences include teaching Social Studies (OU), Psychology and Child Development, Voluntary work with a variety of Charities and NGOs in Ireland and India

Dip Counselling and Psychotherapy, Cert Couple Therapy

Phd, MSSc, BSSc(Hons), MBACP

Marketing and Administration

I have a Degree in Business Management and Marketing, and I am the Administrator for Afterthoughts Counselling and Training Ltd.

During the past six years working as a porter for the NHS I have gained valuable experience with vulnerable people in diverse settings. I have worked to a high standard of care, respecting confidentiality, and have always sought to provide an efficient and friendly service.

BSc(Hons) Business Management and Marketing

Within these industries he has gained considerable commercial experience. Kevin has worked at FD level in several organisations and has considerable experience working on Boards. Kevin is currently CEO of the NI Fishery and Harbour Authority. He is also Chair of the charity Extra-Care, the leading provider of domiciliary care in Northern Ireland.

Kevin is committed to the welfare of families as is seen by his committment to Extra-Care and his long service to Scouting. He is delighted to be able to assist this important new service which seeks to aid families at a critical time. He is keenly aware that the benefits offered by this service cover whole lifetimes.

Afterthoughts NI Manager

I have been a  a midwife for over 25yrs and have five years experience counselling women and men with issues along the pregnancy continuum. I have developed a model of care which incorporates various disciplines through which clients most often report effective and significant relief to trauma and emotional symptoms.

Whilst there are excellent services available in our communities, women and men are not always able to access the type of care that brings resolution to their symptoms.

Afterthoughts NI seeks to complement existing services. We begin as a Counselling Service, later we will provide Training Programmes, and we hope to encourage and participate in Research Projects. In time we will develop a Register of Counsellors who work with our model of care with a view to commissioning NHS funding.
